It is a fairly neat idea. I would imagine the circuitry rectifies the audio signal, then integrates, and at a certain sustained voltage level opens the relays via transistor switching to disconnect drivers. The neat part of it is that if the signal level from the amplifier sustains, the drivers are not going to get reconnected till the signal drops down again. The bad part is that if you don't build suitable hysteresis into the switching, it will be a mess. And not the best for the amplifier either if a load was being rapidly switched in and out of circuit. |

typical german over-engineering, trying to re-invent the wheel.
Shame they can't make drivers where the tinsel leads stay on |

For the tinsel leads, you probably would have to adres Electro Voice. Regarding the Electronics, I would say it probably is their 'voice coil tracking'. XA2 and other models use it to. Why? Some added protection before they had their newer amplifiers with DSP.
