Can anyone give me plans for the Electro-Voice SH1810ER 3 way speaker. Its basically a T18 with a mids and tops. Quite popular as an old club type system. I Have looked in the EV archive but no luck so far. |

The mid horn is just two boards set at a 90° angle, no real throat. They're 10dB down at 50hz. They're also big. Why bother?
What's wrong with a two-box system? Edited by _djk_ - 16 September 2007 at 4:16am |

Pandobair - did you have any luck?
_djk_ - yeah they are big, but I used a pair for live gigs with a rock band and they sang beautifully crossing over around 180Hz (I think---???) to the mid/top driven with Peavey CS amps.
I am looking for a new live gig PA and was thinking of building a pair of T18s and using T252+ or peavey SP4 for the mid high - venues are normally indoors for around 400-600 peeps and that's elbow room only and I used to find the 1810s penetrated well. Also been looking at the Yamaha Club Series but the spec dont impress me too much - will get to hear them next week at a mates gig.
I would welcome some plans for the T252+?????anyone??
Any comments welcome before I go tearing off to build these.

Hello Pandobair, I have 4 1810 bottom ends that i built myself, they are loaded with
P-audio e18 - 600A drivers i use a QSC RMX 4050HD to drive them, they sound really good in big venues. If you stay in Durban you can and have alook at them or i can post the plans.

I don't like boxes so big that I can't set them up by myself.
Another issue is that if you leave it on the floor, the highs get soaked up by the crowd.
If you try and elevate the whole speaker you have weight and stability issuse, and you lose the low bass (lack of coupling with the floor).
I've heard the 1810s (in a music store), they actually sounded better than I expected. The crossover points are 250 and 2500.
I needed something heavier duty, and went with a 2" throat with a 4" coil (JBL), two horn-loaded 12s for mids, and four horn-loaded 15s for low end (all per side numbers). In small places you could leave some of the PA in the truck.
"I would welcome some plans for the T252+?????anyone??"
It's just a box with two 15s and a 60°x40° 1" throat horn. Unless you buy the exact EV components you don't need their plan. The box you build needs to be sized for the drivers you bought.

hello djk, i agrree the mid/top section of the 1810 is preety useless unless you are on a stage. I have just built the bottom end and use them with 4 X15 loaded with p-audio c15-500lf and bmd450 with ph220 horns i use the x15 on stands and drive them with a qsc rmx 2450 amp. As for qsc amps you could say the pool table at the local lesbian club has more balls!! a really well designed class ab amp sounds much better. As for the 1810 design pandobair is right there is no mention of it in any of their archives which led to the conclusio that this was a design that was only marketed in South Africa as far as i know a local company called Prosound was given the rights to manufacture the design locally and made thousands and that explains their popularity here. |

1810's were around in the late 80's early 90's in the UK. A fella called Marvin Conners had some, around the Heathrow area, also Langley sound & light had some, used them at Slough Centre... I also remember Abracadabra in Whitton having some. The 1810's on stage and the T18's in front of the stage worked well, very well.

It's a waste of time, money, space, and makes no sense today.
Build a two-box system instead (sub+ top).
