Hi all

Right suppose its time for my first build.  gone down the mdf route.. mainly because its cheap yet effective and if i mess it up its not too bad. just have to be gentle with them and they might last me a year lol.

I have got the wood cut (no miters yet) and have enough to make 4 cabs. Couple of Emience delta pro 18 drivers i had spare which will have to do.

ill keep posting pics up as i go. Smile

well so much for posting as i go Confused

ill put the build pics up soon but ive already finished 2. 2 more to build and going up for sale.(dont need 4. much bigger than expected!)

wish i had listened to people though. MDF is awfully brittle and i cant see the cabs lasting a year of light touring :(

Looks good to me.

I would router the external edges if I were you, MDF has a tendency to flake if you catch it on a right angle.
If your careful MDF cabs can last a fair while, a friend of mine has got some MDF bandpass boxes still in use from 2008 or so used pretty regularly, just buy an extra tin of paint and filler to keep them looking in descent nick.

You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself.

Yeah thats a good plan. saving up for a descent router atm then i shall round them off. also got some metal corner things in the post which should keep them in better shape.

still have 1/2 tin of tufcab as well.

great tip for anyone using mdf to build... save the mdf sawdust that you collect in your dust extraction and when you need to do some filling, mix it with pva into a paste.. makes some awesome hardcore filler Wink

goos tip huntman. if you use any of the dust from the wood you are cutting, you can make your own filla. If you plan to varnish the wood etc, you can get clear pva. Works a treat.......

Hey man

I saw your pictures about the ES-18BPH
and i want to ask you, if you have the plans of this subwoofer,
I mean the exactly plan from each piece of the subwoofer.
The Problem is, I'm not a joiner or something like that, and I'm not good in reading plans..

It would be very nice if you can send me this, I will give you my E-Mail.

Sorry for my bad english...
Greetings from switzerland

EDIT: Dont need them anymore ;)

Attach a strip of wood or batten to the sides of the cab (and one under the back edge of panel G) below where the door will sit, mount your tee nuts to the underside of the battens, screw the door down onto those battens, preferably using some foam sealing/gasket tape in between.

This image I found via google shows 2 of the battens attached, the side ones have yet to be put in place.
