They like to be dust-free and in posession of bias pots that don't drift! Careful when adjusting the bias, might be worth with power off just working the pots up and down a bit (or replace them with new) as they can develop dead spots after a while or go noisy.

PS and then adjust the bias etc...

Did get a second opinion and it wasn't output transistors but the issue is not completely fixed, i'm taking the amp to John next week to get it completed. Once done will let you know exactly what was wrong.
