Has anyone tried expanding foam in the scoop section of a scoop? (Under side of the scoop of course) What are the results?

YYeah, heard it was a good idea, stiffens the scoop and reduces any resonance in the void behind.....

if the void is filled with expanding foam, it won't break.. it'll dense.

i do'nt have any scoops but i've done this behind all horn sections i have. like in mt121s and stuff.

it's a good thing to do.

Used it in punishers before. Would definitely use it again. I could see it damping out a fair bit of resonance, but is no substitute for a properly braced expansion.

Do spent £10 on a proper applicator gun to attach to a can, you'll thank yourself later.

Let it come out, set and then cut the excess off.

Used it in my old mid horns and improved the quality of sound. It won't break up if it's filled completely and adds nothing to the weight.

Builder friend says it actually conducts sound and makes things worse when trying to stop noise.

Make of that what you will, I'm not sure

...so why do they use it in house for heat AND sound insulation? I've seen people fill drywall with the stuff and it cuts down noise A LOT

in our case though we're not using it to stop noise as such.. but to ad density and reduce resonances.
