Infrabass is a commercial design and you're not supposed to build them, but probably if you look round for it or google it you'll find the plans somewhere, but bear in mind YOU CANT GET THE DRIVERS! although some people who have infrabass copies say thay they work just as well with other drivers.....

Nope...nearer to an 18B .

And as said by H. you don`t have any "magic" processing just a x-over with L-R and Butterworth slopes along with a decent amp? There`s no hype with a 218 it does what it`s designed to do.

we have the custom F218 drivers in some non F1 cabs would like more of em but dont see it too likely to happen so the others will be loaded with xb

Why don't you settle it by measuring the T/S of a F1 18" driver. The method can be found at Elliot sound products website. It'l take maybe an hour and be VERY valuable.

I can't persude any of my mates to let me borrow a driver for a few days....

Can I just ask a question here - why do a certain type of posters continually ask for the F1 bass plans?
 
Don't get me wrong they make some fantastic bass cabs, but ask any of the F1 users on here which is the best bit about F1 and I'm sure most would say the top end. I have F218's because I have Res 1, Res 4S and AX-88 and they are designed to work together. The bass cabs are a complement to a very good range of mid-high cabs.
 
Are people expecting to build F218 copies and then have a system that magically sounds as good as F1? Cos if they are surely they're all going to be very dissapointed.
 
Its like being in the pub and rolling out rich war stories pretending to have been in the SAS. If you have a load of copy bass cabinets that you've painted purple yet you've got some 12" + 1" reflex cab sat on top and your advertising it as an F1 rig, everyones going to think you're a walt and a cnut.
 
If you're after good bass there's so many designs which arguably are better than the F218. Infra is a bit special but then not many people actually need stuff that low. Why not just build the available plans and acknowledge them for what they are?
 
If you can't afford F218's then you definetley can't afford any of the Res mid-highs nor the amount of amps you'll need to drive them, so why bother trying to imitate it?
