It's a relatively new driver that requires inordinate amounts of power to drive it, I've never seen anyone mention trying it in a reflex yet. It would probably work in the GSub but you'd have to look at how much output increase you get in some simulation software to decide whether the extra cost and weight is worth it over a normal 18XB.

hey mate, did you try the higher power fanes in the end?

mine are 18xb loaded and sound immense, and was (like you) just wondering if its worth using the 1000/1500's.

Have only heard Fane 1500s in Mini scoops.

But Matrix STR3000 will drive 1x per channel no problem, in reality these drivers will only take approx 1kw before losing it..

1kw... is there any point in it over an 18xb then, considering it has a lower
sensitivity?

apart from the higher bl maybe? 25 plays 32...

The 18-1500 has higher BL, and larger Xmax.

This allows the 1500 to play lower notes at higher volume, well after the 18XB has lost its lunch. It is very close in perfromance to Turbomax 1200.

The 18XB is a nice little speaker, but Fane 1500 is on the top shelf along with 1850, V18-1000, Turbomax 1200/1500.

That's better for relfex!
Well now the driver is obsolete
Performs really well in invader it seems, I've got 12 of these drivers, last 12 coming out of the fane factory for me:-) -Starting out in smaller bph, but invaders look good if 3 pcs can do 30 hz:-)

I must say I'm very impressed with this drivers performance in bph, it certainly DOES NOT demand a lot of power!

For some reason it plays a lot louder than the 18b600 that the bph was made for even at the same power.

I never managed to play these babies full power, this Wednesday I had 16 out, driven only by 2 digam7000, same as I used for my 18b600. We couldn't even drive these small amps to maximum!
Everything was jumping off the FOH table, the mixer had to be taped to the table.

Ideally I would play them with my lab13000 just to get the rms power for the drivers, driving them at program power must be insane, so far I've only been around 1/4 to ½ power!
I hope to get them out this summer.

Only worry is what happens if I burn them, will a serious company like fane still supply kits?

You're playing them in BPH cabs, not sub, and playing 16x of them ?
