McKenzie made 15 inch drivers offering the same cone. That is what I had in the 1990's. They must have been very rare. It was impossible (In the States) to get an original recone kit for them. I eventually threw the frames away for, the alternative recone kit sounded horrible compared to the original. They did not handle a lot of power. I recall they were rated around 100 watts. I used them in straight horns covering midrange down to 100 Hz.
Nevertheless, here is a photo of a 12 inch McKenzie offering the same cone as the 15 inch version pictured. https://reverb.com/item/2729380-mckenzie-studio-7-c12-100w-8-ohm-12-speaker Best Regards, |

McKenzie chassis were always round without any flats on them---You can only find the flats on Fane or Fane OEM speakers.
McKenzie Studio 15" speakers also had a slightly larger diameter chassis than most other makes back in those days which also caused mounting problems when fitting them into tight cabinet spaces or front mounting into pre-cut baffle holes. |

This is not that relevant really, but I have some McKenzie 18s that are not on a round chassis. They have got the flats and look exactly like the Fane chassis.

Regarding the OPs drivers, I have never seen a McKenzie with the rear pole plate that has the sides squared off like that, however it is something I’ve seen on old Fanes!!
To me they look
like an OEM version of a Fane Classic 15/200C, the rear squared-off Pole plate,
Basket, and terminals all look remarkably similar, the rubber trim between the suspension
and chassis (where the front gasket would normally be) is also present on the
classic series…. Plus, the 12” version of the Classic often has a smooth cone,
but I’m unable to find an Image of the front of the 15” version. Edit: Pictures stolen from interweb!! Edited by APW - 05 March 2021 at 6:11pm |

[/QUOTE] You will probably find that McKenzie never manufactured an 18" chassis themselves so any of their 18" drivers would have been either OEM Fanes or re-badged Fanes in McKenzie Gold livery. |

In circa 1985, myself and a good friend made some three way tops and you can guess what the 15 inch drivers where..... McKenzies. We bought them from a local electrical shop. For the life of me I cant remember them having 4 sides. I do remember them thumping though. We were amazed all the wall decorations in the pub used to rattle. Similar time to when the Celestion twin 8?? Or 10 tops were popular on a pole above the bass bin. We drove to Norwich in Toombland to listen to a 'propper' sound sysyem, but decided we couldn't afford one. Carried on with out home made from chipboard three ways.

Buy one and measure the TS Parameters. We can try to dissect the materials used to determine the brand, but it will not tell you the performance of the driver. Only the TS Parameters will give you the answer. With these speakers being such a rarity, measuring the TS Parameters is in order.
Those speakers are possibly hybrids (Mckenzie cone/Fane chassis) which means it may be very difficult to find the specifications on them. Best Regards, |

Evening gents, in response to Marks post removed these drivers from a renovation project which was comprised of 4 x Martin 215 mk1 ex tasco hire and 4 mega of london JBL 4560 copies. The baskets are stamped FANE ACOUSTICS with a ripped label which read Maplin 200w 8 r. http://https://ibb.co/HTksZ8v - http://https://ibb.co/HTksZ8v http://https://ibb.co/0BPfnNz - http://https://ibb.co/0BPfnNz
