Hi Chaps

I had 16 of these around 1989. I had great pleasure with them. They were loaded with the Fane 400 Colossus. Pretty scary when all 16 were running....ask Tre4u2nv LOL

Anyways, I have drawn up 2 versions. One as standard and the other with a double baffle and segmented scoop.

Second version is also slightly deeper, as well as a deeper chamber to receive deeper drivers

Width should be 61cm (24'')... do the cab wider to gain a larger chamber

chamber is 57 litres without the driver

Handle placements and cut off rear for castors is up to you to do

I'm 100% sure that with the Royals and the new monster Fanes these will sing

  EnjoyTongue

No probs....

For those who want a bigger chamber but want to keep the 61cm wide (24'') you will need to play with the rear baffle length (450mm) if you make this shorter to 425 this will give you a rear chamber volume of 70 litres minus the driver. So subtract your driver volume from 70.

Not sure what you're asking Junior?

if you want a larger chamber of 70 litres the rear baffle length would be 394mm as above post

do you need both throat areas of both chamber sizes?

standard scoop throat area is 539

larger chambered throat area is 861

You can't just shorten between the 2 numbers and expect a larger chamber though.
I'll explain.....lets say you wanted to shorten the rear baffle to give a throat area of 700, you won't be gaining any volume of the rear chamber, just gaining throat area. You will have to go to 861 throat area to gain more volume of the rear chamber. Nothing wrong with gaining throat area, it's all about tuning to what you want with what driver you have.

if crossed over high the standard scoop will play more like a PA bin. If the rear baffle is shortened and crossed at the same point it will play as if it's crossed lower.......giving that psycho acoustic feeling as if it's playing lower.....taking the hard edge off the sound, bit like the sound of a Wattco scoopWink

But I don't want to confuse things and the standard scoop sounds great. The larger chamber is there for people that have drivers like 1850 etc

if you shorten rear baffle you get larger throat so more lows, but you shorten the horn pathz very  and the chamber size decrease. Side effects: less overall SPL and one-notish scoop.

Not really because we are only talking shortening the horn by very minor amounts. This design scoop will never be one-notey. And chamber size will increase not decrease.

Here's an easier one.....if you shorten/adjust the bottom of chamber panel that is now 209mm to 123mm wide this will give you a rear chamber size of 58 litres minus the driver and a throat area of 780.

SBC who is Saul has just had some Fane scoops built. Don't suppose he would tell us what mod he has done but it would be interesting if there are any of the above been usedThumbs UpWink
