is the fane sovereign 6-100 any good for being horn loaded for the mid section?
thinking in a dual 18" gsub then a 15" for bass, 6" for mid,1" or 1.5" for hi

The mass corner is 343hz, so it's a direct radiator, not a horn driver. Stack a pair for 99dB/2.83V/1M

I've tried to use it in a waveguide, it got burnt - due to needing a lot of HF boost to get its upper response flat, which eventually meant it was being overpowered. Sounded OK, but now I use Beyma 6MI100's and they are much, much better. Ironically I don't actually need their extra power rating, as their upper responses is that much better than the Fane already

Wouldn't a mass corner of 343 make it good for vented enclosure, and not for direct radiating seales cabinet?

Direct radiating includes vented, but I would never vent these (the Fs is too high). |

OK, so the FANE is a crap driver (what do you expect for £20) - the Beyma 6MI100 how good is it for being horn loaded mid section?

"the Beyma 6MI100 how good is it for being horn loaded mid
section? "
Mass corner of 571hz. The Beyma 605Nd mass corner is 937hz. Mass corner of B&C 8PE21 is 875hz, has a 2" coil, and seems to be a much better choice. |

dennis, that's absolutely superb! crazy high extension for a horn sans phase plug, all the way to 5k?! i'd be interested in hearing how dispersion goes at that frequency. james. |

+1. Wild guess, not too good considering the rather large throat area which induces comb filtering. Still, the project looks to be intended for home use, so dispersion won't be the biggest demanding factor in that useage. For PA, dispersion would be more important.
