Not quite. It's a tool, it does a lot. In the case of the tops being referred to, it's used to provide brick wall filtering and some magnitude and phase correction to provide a remarkably linear response for a DIY box. It's the same thing used in Turbo FlexArray, as the box was tuned by the same guy. |

If you are wondering whether speakers processed with FIR and therefor has a flat (or just well behaved) phase response has an audible advantage I'll garantee you, the reports on those speakers sounding "very real" and "present" are true. I've only found FIR capability worth every penny compared to a similar non-FIR processor. Even my Dolby Lake lp4d12, which only has the linear-phase part, allows me to do quite amazing stuff.
A well managed FlexArray is probably still the best speaker I've heard. Best regards Fred |

You think the Lake LM26 is still the top dog? technology seems to be old and long in the tooth by now. Linea ASC48 looks promising or better yet amp/DSP combo XTA APA.
