Figured i may as well make a topic of pics of this years festival season. Im doing one per week for the next few months, just need to remember to take pics as well [im a bit useless]:

A private event from week or 2 ago, Res4's and F121's off FFA on mainstage, only a couple of hundred capacity of this event:

''Remember that the object of a subwoofer is to enhance the output of your main speakers, not overpower it''

''Dubstep - an elongated electronic fart''

This weekend was Glastonbudget up Leicestershire, only got pics of the mainstage, others i either didnt go to due to crap music or it was too dark for my phone camera:

Mainstage was hangs of EV Xlc array, with 9x X-subs per side. Didnt pay any attention to amps/company etc, but sounded superb throughout - shame about some of the acts. The michael jackson tribute was shockingly bad!!

madness were as good as the real thing!

2nd main stage was the bigtop, had dynacord cobra4 rig, 4x PWH + 2x Tops + 1x Far per side, with 4x PWH28 subs across the front barriers on the floor, then for some godaweful reason - 2x Fars on stage chocked upwards as frontfill, right at the front rows faces then beyond to the acoustic nightmare of the marquee... For those who dont know the cobra4 Far cab, it has a 5degree vertical HF horn, designed to go on top of the wider dispersion tops, to throw the HF to the back of the audience. Why they had them on the frontfills firing at the ceiling is beyond me, would have been much better off putting them on the main stacks, and using tops for frontfill. Either way, 3x cobra4/side were far from enough in that sized tent in my opinion of using them for years, first time i have heard them sound like they are struggling, horrific HF during the sunday night acts like blues brothers and the prodigy tribute 'jagged edge'. Partly acoustics issues of the marquee, but i feel with the kit they had, they could have done a much better job. All powered off EV TG racks.

Sorry for no pic, it was always too dark in there - just felt the need to rant.

Other stages had small EV arrays all around, all mixed side/back of stage, all sounding ok but not great. One engineer managed to make a rollup and smoke it before he noticed some poor girl was 3 songs into her set with her microphone muted at the desk... very 'professional'

Next week, Beachbreak live

Some The Ev line array / PA  was John from Atomic Sounds here in lincoln as far as i know.
John was saying he had big problems with that prodigy tribute bringing their own shite gear. Offered them decent radio mics and kit but they insisted on using their own...  Sometimes you can't win

Although those wedges are a bit old school in terms of shape, I always think there is something pleasant and soothing about a carpet covered wedge.

just a bit, another local company down here carry them in flightcased pairs [luckily on castors], but still an absolute pig to move about! Not quite got the quality of the MP400's, but cant be beat for pure balls rocknroll/djmons when you need that silly power!

Beachbreak Live 2012

Mainstage - APR audios Xline array/subs with EV P3000/CP3000 amplification etc etc. Sounded mental for dizzy rascal, i was on the beach about 3/4mile away, and the bass was thundering through - lasers were pretty damn bright too - James_Tengo?

Merlins forest [dance tent] - APR audios Xsubs/XLC, in 'awesome' wide dispersion mode. Perfect case pojnt of where a point source array which cab have varied horizontal dispersion would have kicked ass... Crazy thinking i know. Didnt personally hear this rig when it was on, but general concensus from punters was it was a bit pants for the largely electronic farting going on

Whatever this tent was called - array of whatever these are. Band playing at this point were god aweful, so cannot say anything about this rig whatsoever....

Chai Wallahs - the usual arrays of excellent D&B Q1's, with the same dissapointing LX rig as usual, but this year, with Jseries subs across the front instead of cardioid stacks of Qsubs, soundwise - awesome improvement for the program material they host!! Soundcraft Vi4 awesome as usual.

Didnt bother taking a picture of the ghetto blaster, same as last year/nothing to see from the front anyway [music sounded good, but the MC/dickhead mic was nearly always at a level of something clipping/distoring, be it limiters, or overdriving the channel], ghetto palace had some FK1, but never passed it when i could get a snap of it. Never went in the other tents so no more pics of actionaid and whatever else i decided to ignore the existance of.

Special notice to member stray_sounds, was bloody entertaining meeting him and his crew again this year [and this year realising it was him], your drinking antics and general banter kept me going on those nite shifts when i was stuck guarding random sand dunes etc.... Shame i didnt get to hear the rig going on the sunday, but sleep was more appealing at the time!

To the Copenhagen band Taku Laku, epic. I hope to see them again this year!

Next job - T4 on the beach
