they were nice guys indeed. And that legbreak incident... such a ballache. I had to chaperone that ambulance all the way from production gate [C2] to the injury and back - apparently crowds arnt clever enough to move out the way of the big blue flashing lights and horn blasts....

anyways, just got back from Strummerville, Leeds and Electric Picnic. Unfortuantly all three of these i was working 15-20hr days not having time to see a single band/be arsed to take many pics at all.

so strummerville, heres an artic lorryload of Noise control audio gear being painfully slowly towed out the swamp by a collection of tractors [leaving a bent bumper etc]

Leeds - came with a big stage:

and a smaller stage:

and electric picnic - whats the craic you may ask? - is that a potato? - or do you just wana feck off you lil gobshite? - yeah its a big stage.... t'anks a million!!

Amazed me how much the irish punters hated us Brits [most contractors were shipped in English folks], proper patriotism worse than the Yanks. Put me off the country a lot, loved it in the past

It was me playing when it happened, surprised how little people payed attention to people asking them to move out of the way, guessing you were one of the guys in the Hi-Vis around him then?

haha yes, was there with the security company, although i was based in production areas, that was my only 'public appearance' - usually leave that for the meatheadsTongue.

Had the people listened, moved to the other side of the marquee like they were asked too, the music would have been left playing. Only stopped it because they were idiots, H&S had to come out and play.

Why is it that the dumb racist's imagination can only stretch to the use of anti-Irish stereotypes when they want to be derogatory about the people?

"and electric picnic - whats the craic you may ask? - is that a potato? - or do you just wana feck off you lil gobshite? - yeah its a big stage.... t'anks a million!!"

If this was a reference to black people there would be uproar here. To be sure.

sorry if i caused offence, no offence meant there whatsoever! Just phrases i heard a lot, stuck in the brain. Not even sure how that is even racist in all honesty, its just things i frequently heard - well, the potatoe thing was mainly said by the english crews but is only aimed in humour.

So yes, im sorry for any offence i may have caused Handshake

i also meant no offence at all to the english crews over to work. picnic used to stand out as a great festival, it's getting less great each year. and yes.. getting around the site etc is a nightmare. much frustration with all the types of wristbands etc. i'm sure much of the logistics could be done much more easily.

saw the last 2 tracks of orbital, it looked great. i love the led curtain things.

Cheers man, it's been a great production to work on. Shoehorning it onto little stages as we are doing today in Berlin is a bit of a pain but on the whole it's fun

I think they have very strict sound restrictions on the noise levels there after about 1 or 2 in the morning. It was the same at glade 2009 (also at matterly bowl), I worked in the boomtown tent (not run by boomtown fair I dont think) during the day when Vsnares and MZO were playing, and my hearing took a battering. Went back at night and you could have a normal conversation with someone right in front of the rig.

I swear shambala was actually the loudest late at night of all the ones I went to this year.

Shambala was only loud in the smaller tents, Kamikaze was dismally quiet.

I imagine Bangface next weekend will be the loudest for me.

I still cant believe how far we were allowed to push the system! The middle subs driven with the k10's was unreal!
