Did anyone ever try this? Have 4x PD1852s I'm thinking about selling, unless they work in these, of course.

Yep.. Don't know if many have tried these cabs with modern stronger drivers. With the drivers suggested by the plans, both 1850/186 Horns are 50hz boxes, simple as that. I've heard them in stacks of 4x/8x, with "older" drivers, and they stil don't go much lower. But have heard them used in Carnival on floats, and they were perfect for that, as they can play higher than Scoops. Needs a driver with exceptional Xmax/BL, and cone strength to do more, and also driver with T/S suited to smallish chamber and horn throat. V18-1000 is on paper perfect for these cabs, but PD1852 will be warmer, should naturally play lower, due to difference in right T/S parms. Just as it plays warmer than PD1850, in same cabs.
