greetings,
a friend has given me two of these at a great price, and i plan on using them to drive the sub cabinets im building. planning on 4x 18ps100 drivers (700w rms) in b&c sub18 cabinets, and the amps are rated at 1600w @ 4ohm bridged. this is my first build, so i have zero experience but i've been doing as much research as i can. is it reasonable to think that i can run 2 drivers in parallel per amp in bridge mode? i know ideally i'd want more headroom, but i'm trying to work with what i've got. cheers Edited by twosteps - 29 April 2025 at 1:11am |

What you are proposing is fine. Bear in mind, you will need two separate 20-A Circuits in order to operate those amplifiers properly, under the given configuration.

right on good to know. the majority of use is going to be using a 6000w generator, which should be capable of producing 40-50amps according to google. that'd suffice, no?

7001s like all the old Pro series are great quality, but they are really old now. Those could be pushing 30 years! I would get them tested and serviced as required by a decent engineer before pushing them really hard for sub use.

Yes - the 7001 is a lovely amp, but a packed chassis. At the very least you need to pop out the modules & give them a good cleaning. Dust tends to accumulate around the corners by the fans, which can lead to problems. |

according to my buddy they were serviced ~5years ago, and i've popped them open and everything looks great. getting them tested is a great idea, will definitely be doing that before i put any load on them.
right on
