If the horn in your scoop goes to the edge of the box. Will it throw the bass too far? Basically, out of the building or what some would call it "the parking lot" effect...

Any feedback would help, thanks.

Let me rephrase it. What are the advantages or disadvantages of continuing the curved section of the horn to the opening of the mouth.

Where the "scoop" ends, is a non issue.

The "parking lot" effect, is nothing to do with the curved Scoop section.

Some Scoop designs, do not have the "Scoop", they may have an approximation of a curve, using upto 3x angled, straight  pieces.

The "parking lot" effect, is caused by throat size, flare rate, and horn length, in the Scoop.

Superscooper 18, Martin WSX, are 2x cabs, that are well known for this.

It can be over come some what, in smaller venues, by laying them horizontally.

Then again, Some Scoop designs, have optimal throat, horn expansion rate/length, which manifests in sub spl being loud near the stack of cabs, and even louder up to 15+ meters away.

The Lev .44 Scoops, which I designed, do this.

I’ve heard the “Mikey scaled up” design with the rear baffle cut to 395mm, there’s no sub when you’re standing in front of the scoops but 30+ft you can hear them properly and they also gave the building a beating. They were also setting off car alarms in the parking lot.

That is strange, as the Mykey "Watco Scoops", along with the SteveB Scoops, playing solid and heavy, near and far, just like mine.

Difference being, Mykey/Steveb Thunder with PD1850, mine with PD 1851/1852, and of course, the Rolls Royce, 18sound 18NLW9601.

My prototype I'm selling, also thunders with the PD1850, but also the above drivers, and many others.
