I managed to stop a lady giving these away free on Facebook as she had inherited them and had no idea what they were worth.

I told her that together they would probably be wroth about £1000. Apart from the obvious JBL's and bullets I dont know. So if anyone could identify and point in the right direction for prices that would be great thank you. I hate to see people getting ripped off.

Will take a punt on identifying the centre stacks (no idea on the rest):

Tops - HH concert series horns

Mids - 2 x 12" angled mid. May have originally been loaded with ATC. As the domes are aluminium they might be RCF L12/P24.

Bass - JBL 4560.

Amazingly I found this photo on the internet for reference:

Well done Midas, yup i saw this on Marketplace too, and the idiots jumping up and down thinking they were going to get the score of the year for nothing.

There were lots of people making those 4560's and the angled mids back in early 80s, so they could be anyones. Any great value will depend on what's inside of course. The usual set-up was Gauss bass, ATC's in the mids. But doubt you would be that lucky. The big chrome dome mids could just be Goodmans or McKenzies.

The horn flare boxes sitting either side to them look like Celestion from the mid 70's

As for value....reckon you aren't far off, could be £1000 to the right person?
14 boxes at £75 a box, = £1050

Edit...by the way, they aren't JBL bullets, look like some kind of copy.

The Metal Horns resemble Altec 811 or 511 Horns. If they are indeed Altecs and the drivers are original Altecs, they will be worth something on the Vintage Home Audio Market.

A classic mid 1970's to mid 1980's small PA system of the type used by bands playing pub and club venues. Or a very serious disco DJ. I used to have a similar system and did lots of local band gigs with it.

The boxes all look in good condition and well made, but the value will depend on what the drivers are and if they all still work.
It's hard to tell what the horns on top of the stack are but they look like metal ones. The HH type were plastic and usually have damaged fronts.
The other horns look familiar but I can't remember who made them, RCF?, Fane? Celestion?
The tweeters likewise - as Ian says, definitely not JBL.
If advertised as a classic vintage PA, maybe £1000 to the right buyer (also in agreement with Ian).

The 1x12 horn mids are a better match to the 4560s than the angle fronts - the cones are in about the same plane so they align very well and give a nice smooth sound on vocals.

Angle fronts came into use in the early 70's when people moved up from simple 2-way rigs (4560 + mid/high horn). Dave Martin made two versions, the 2x12 similar to the ones shown here, and a 3x12 with the third one in the centre facing directly forwards. These were superseded by the horn loaded Philishave.

A company called AMS made a 2x12 with a Vitavox slot tweeter (and S3 driver) in the middle between the cone speakers. You wouldn't notice until you tried to pick one up and found it was twice as heavy as expected (and of course when you heard it, where's all that top end coming from? )...

Didn't The KLF have one of those angled 2x12 mids being driven around in a big american car in one of their videos? I can't remember the name of the tune though. Ermm

Edit...it was one of their album covers too...look closely, it's the ones with the Vitavox horns in the centre slots Madboffin mentions above.

That's a great video, even though rave was never my thing (although I worked on a few)

Tell me about that! At one point, it was all bloody raves. Normal gigs became gold dust. One reason getting out of the UK was a no-brainer for me!

And on the subject of cabinets, I'm sure that Celestion also had 12" angle cabs in their "Recommended Plans" book. A friend had a few that he built. Along with some 15" subs. Not the best PA by any means, but they made a noise.  LOL
