I've just built myself a new workshop sub.  Not that I needed one, I just felt the workshop (my spare room) should have one!  Take two unknown 10" hi-fi sub drivers and half a sheet of MDF plus the amp module from a Wharfdale 8" hi-fi sub and you get:

Not the best sounding bass but it hits 45Hz ok and plenty of volume.  For a back of an envelope design it's not bad!

The rest of the system is:

Cloud CX242 taking CD,Tuner and PC inputs.  Zone 1 is the system, Zone 2 is used as a signal source for testing.

Currently using a pair of Monitor 8's for the mains but also in the room are two JBL Control 5's and a missmatched pair of Turbo TXD-520's.  Amp is an Anytronics SA-300 with some speaker grill as the top cover but passively cooled which is nice.

So, what do you use to listen to music while you're working?

an anytronics sa-300 was the first amp i ever owned.. it's been missing on me since about 2001 now.. i lent it to somone and it got damaged and their mate may have been able to fix it etc..... must retrieve it someday.

i miss that little amp.

that's the only time i've ever heard someone else mention one!

Anytronics didn't have a big amp-making career, it might have been the only one they did, not seen any others.  They make dimmers normally.

Not the best sounding (expecially this one) but quite a lot of power for a passively cooled little amp.  Used to bridge it into a 15" sub for house parties.

Ummm..Anytronics...they made a couple of larger amps..the Sa500 and Sa700,i had a 700 briefly...very well built heavy weight old skool English amp, huge smoothing caps, massive heatsinks,12 hitachi mosfets,i think they only made them for a couple of years then vanished.
Be seeing you.

one of these hangs on the wall via a couple of screws under the handle.

its covered in a layer of saw dust, the tape decks both instantly chew up any tape you put in but the radio still works fine.

Old skool boombox, it has no CD,lol.

I haven't got a workshop as such.Ouch I use the back garden[cutting on a dry day], bedroom[ some cutting in there, but have to cover everything or it gets caked in wood dust] and shed[the painting and storage when paint wet] to do my building cabs in.

Anyway I got a JVC boomblaster for my 'workshop' music, one with the subs on each end, and it's tube shaped and in camo style.

I should actually point out I have two workshops.  The sound system above is in my electronics workshop in the house where I do repairs, do cabling etc, where I'm sitting now etc.  Got an 8ft wide 2ft 6" deep bench and 10ft of steel racking!

My other workshop in the garage has a little Sony clock radio as the only sound source but I have enough hi-fi stuff around to populate that with something larger too.

Static, someone near and dear to me used to have one of those! great stuff. Remember tape to tape? Remember pirate DJs shouting 'big up the TDK crew!'? remember... oh never mind.
