I been faf'n around with a 500/1 & JL 10W7 in what is meant to be a ported box made to jl spec but has been made in a wedge shape so not sure if it is or isn't jl spec
spose i can get the tape on it and work the volume out.
But that's not the question, i need to build a new cab to fit in the larger space i have
and working with a little program i've got the optimum size would be a 3.4 ft3 ported box
which seems to give a 3 db rise from 50 Hz down 6 db rise at 35 Hz!!!

The question is......is it worth making a box that large when i can make the jl
sloted port box at only 1.5 ft3? and do the above rise levels sound true?

Any body got any software to work that out?

cheers - Pete

That's a big box for a car audio 10", they are designed for small boxes(loose suspension) and may suffer if it's too big. Just plot a xmax plot on win isd to see if you're needing a subsonic filter. The rise is perfectly acceptable, its a sub driver, not a prosound driver! Don't forget the car will increase volume below around 70hz at 12db/oct too
