Do not know how this would work as we are fairly well spread out, but if for a starting point we list any amps fitting "vintage" criteria (over 25 years?) we have and what we would like to listen to, I'm sure a way will present itself.

AMPS Available:
Amcron DC150
Amcron DC300a
Amcron MA600 beastie!
MM Paice AP360
Hill DX1500
HH S500d
HH VX900
Studiomaster 400c/800c/b/1000
Citronic PPX 450/900/1200/1600
Turner B502?
Old Bose power station
BGW 750B
BGW 8000
C Audio SR606
NJD SA220

AMPS Wanted:
**Yamees**
P2200
HH IC100 and IC100S
HH500/900's
EV
QUADS
Peavey CS800/1000
Valves?

We would have to have a standard 3/4 way system that we would swap amps out on different freq. duties whist drinking.
In case this doesn't happen cause we are old with responsibilities now, then we can just compare different models here.  JBL mentioned the differences in the PPX range.  The PPX 900 being more punchy than the 450.

I don't know how old they are but if we were to meet up here (NE Scotland) I could probably put my hands on;

PPX 300, 900, 1200, 1600.
H&H M900
BGW 8000
Old Bose power station (made by BGW?)
An EV whose model No. I forget but its a good oldie

I'm not carrying that lot far from base though!

Depending on location I'd be up for it, and have citronic PPX 450,900,1200,1600 and citronic sa400. Also NJD SA220 which could come with me.

Click//clunk/thump//hiss/pop//hiss//pop//hiss/dnnrrrrrrrrrrr

that is the sound of my old Crown D150a booting up and settling down.

Who's going to be brave enough to offer up their speakers to the random speakerplans amps of yesteryear!

PPX's might be the new kids on the block!

wheres that picture from notting hill carnival with (valve?) amps which look like they've been built onto dexian shelving in the back of a Luton van.

We have an amp known as "The cooker" which has no identifing markings and which looks more like a 1960's electric oven than an amplifier

care to risk either of them?

You have to post pictures of this "cooker", sounds funny.
Yes, thinking of moving them any great distance is going to be an endurance test, lol.
We may need adequate fire extinguishers aswell as somekind of gantry for lifting in and out.
Fancy hearing those BGW's, look interesting.

The BGW's are nice amps, they sound much nicer to my ears than the equivilant Crown of similar power...i had a 750a,built like a Sherman tank,24 output devices, these used to be the top-of-range club install amps back in the early 1980's.....its a shame BGW never really caught on in a big way in UK,they were probually just to expensive back then....Studiomaster bought out the 800b/c which gave similar power for a third of the price,as did the HH s500d.
Be seeing you.

The BGW 8000 has been on 8hrs + a day, 6 days a week for at least 6 years (could easily be 16 or 26!) it gets all kinds of loads hooked up to it (short circuits, the outputs of other amps Disapproveetc.) and just keeps on going.

I think "the cooker" is a Crown DC300A or copy of; it has no identifying markings but its physical size shape and layout are very similar (I am co-curator of said amp). Unfortunately its not in the same city as me at the moment or I'd take a pic.

Oh, forgot to mention: ours has blocks of wood bolted to the heatsinks at the back, not sure why LOL
