Hi, I was brainstorming about a new speaker design. I came up with the following drawings: or: 3-way sytem with 6th-order bandpass system inside. 15" bass Now the design should be worked out yet. any ideas if it might work? See ya, fidodido

ARX here in Australia did something like this quite some time back (although used a 12" horn loaded mid), and it is now discontinued. Although both vents are in the lower section of the box, one of the chambers extends right up the back similar to your sketch. I have one of these in my shed at the moment I have to do work on for a client.
pdf brochure is here Cheers Graeme |

Trouble is, it's gonna be huge! how are you going to get the mids and tops up high enough? surely it's going to be way too big and heavy to go on a stand?

fidodido - what drivers and BP6A bandwidth/sensitivity have you examined for this combo? (Fitz's omni seems ~BP4)
you might have to do some vent tweaking |

I just found a nice midtop from "AG AUDIO PRO". It uses hornloaded 15" bass, 10" hornloaded mid and a compression driver. Looks pretty good:

that's a nifty little box, fidodido. i'm liking the looks of the 15" section, but
you've got to wonder what putting the hf in the mid horn is going to do. point source goodness or interference badness? graeme, are arx well thought of over there? local boys and all... i picked up a bargain quadcomp mkI a few years ago and i have to say it's been superb for the small amount of live work i've done and most of the time as a post crossover tool in sub and bass channels. i miss do that with the ultradrives, it's got dynamic eq but i find them clumsy. james. |

I know what you mean. Think the hf driver will interfere the mids. |

I like the coax driver mid/horns used tn the new EAW speakers, wonder if a coax driver would work on a reasonable mid flare?
