A friend of mine's looking for a powerfull bassbin. Sometnig to run undernieth a pair of the new Cerwin Prostax dual 15 mid-highs. He will probably power them with a EP2500. The one option will be a 184, but PD's not avalable in SA. Its either Fane or P-Audio, I'd rather not want him to go the Eminence way... The other option is to go withe this one of mine: http://www.speakerplans.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4850&a mp;a mp;PN=1. Then replace the 18 with something like the P-Audio E-18-600. Its basically going to be used in small DJ setups. WHAT YA SAY? |

I say I like the idea of 3 15" subs under a double 12, unless he absolutely has to use the 15s full-range for some venues at times.
Eminence is priced close to (and the cast alu basket range riddiculously beyond) 18Sound in this country which takes care of that concern in a hurry. Don't write off Eminence though, they have some very decent stuff, such as the Kappa 12 which in a double would teach that CV a good lesson (DJ though so he might not care about the sound). Some form of 6th order 15" if made compact might be the ticket for placing under double 15 tops. Horns only really become a practical option if you will stack a couple of them at almost every single event or become really large. Then there is always the option of a whole bootload of 15s (is there a BR 15 in the E series??, the challenger 15"ers are quite nice but with small 15"ers you pay more than 18" for the same output, but added flexibility as two compact 15"ers pull the pants off an equivalently sized 18" assuming decent design) Re Fane: are you meaning the classic series or the junk that goes into Tedelex's chinese OEM efforts? |

Well the Fane Cresendo or Colossus series is well decent. But use the Fane Colossus 18XB suggested as one as the drivers for the 184 sub. http://www.speakerplans.com/index.php?id=bob184 Bob used Fane 18XB's in his 184 subs and seems well pleased with them. Go with the 184 subs. |
