Be happy it wasn't an 1850 loaded S118, or 2x18 loaded Boke (3 man lift), that fell and caused injury.
![]() Don't see bandages, any sign of medical attention? ![]() Even at posh gigs, I still wear the steel toe caps (black, highly polished), as what goes up, will be coming down at end of gig. Edited by levyte357- - 10 September 2012 at 12:14pm |

For immediate anesthetic relief, I prescribe large Smirnoff vodka with hint of Roses Lime cordial. ![]() Edited by levyte357- - 10 September 2012 at 12:22pm |

Ouchee, lesson learned I hope. Of course better than steel caps is don't drop it in the first place! You'll get better with practice no doubt, carrying 2 man cabs up stairs was always hilarious

This happened when we loaded the van before the event
Both of my mates still came to the event, they went to hospital on Sunday morning I've been in stiches ever since, the toe jokes are doing the rounds It wasn't so much bad technique, more a case of a stupid mistake that caused one cab to fall off it's wheels and land on their feet. Had to happen to someone to make the lads wear boots. Could have been me last weekend but I had my steeleys on :) |

It is a little sad that this is the case, but it happens all over the place. Without wishing to go overboard on the H&S (and assuming this might have been a less than legit gig), think about the following... If these guys were 'working' for someone, then the someone should have had some ELI. The 'employer' should also ensure all the 'staff' have appropriate PPI and be using it. If not, there is a clear negligence claim (think you're all mates? Think again if a claims company waves a cheque at an impoverished person...) Also think about what might happen if an injured person is off their usual job as the result of an injury, and they hear it was whilst 'working' for someone else. I had a 'helper' who managed to drop a light 6ft onto another forum member, who took it very well (along with the scarring!). I wasn't an employer, and the 'helper' (my missus in this instance) could have dropped it on a completely unrelated/friendly 3rd party (which actually nearly happened anyway) and I could've faced being persued for the damages, with no ELI to cover me. It is quite sobering (and painful for someone!) |
