Hi Speakerplans. Wich 18 inch woofer is, in your oppinion, the...BEST SOUNDING...(by your own definition of what "BEST SOUNDING" is)...in a ported 150 litre enclousure tuned to 40 Hz. Top 3 or top 5 is most welcome. Thanx for your input Regards. Steffan. |

No it's not. OHM 18" would work well on that one and sound good. And before anyone asks, no, not available other than buying a product with that driver in it.

I would look at the 18Sound 18LW2400. I use the 18LW1400 in cabs not much bigger and it works very nicely indeed. The 2400 is designed as a drop-in replacement but with some improvements.

Ok. Thanx.
Nice to hear. Any restrictions portlength wise? Tho goal is to obtain punchy, fast, accurate ,Deep bass. As long as i keep the "windspeed" in the ports under, say, 16 m/s at full power (2100 watts) it should be ok right. I have simed a 150 liter cabinet in bass box 6 pro, with two triangle ports in the bottom corners of the box. The port dimentions is 250mm x 250mm and 400mm deep. That gives a tuning on 42,5 Hz and a -3dB point at 42,3 Hz. The question that im puzzled with, is if there is a rule of thump regarding the relation between portlength and the sound wich i whant to get, as i mentioned above. Thanx in advance.

Triangle is the worst shape for a vent. Sharp corners make noise even at moderate air speed.
Better to go with a simple rectangular port under the driver. oooh and don't dream too much, "punchy, fast, accurate ,Deep bass" is very difficult to get with a single box. It's always a compromise between punch and deep....
