I have two new fane 18xb's and I want to build some reflex boxes for them. Can be singles or a double box, I eventually want to have 4 18" subs in my rig. I'm looking at the b&c sub18, G-sub and the fane 200l design.

First are these new xb's a decent sub driver? Would I be better off looking at other drivers?

Would the G-sub work well with xb's? And would they need customising to suit xb's better?

Shall I work out the perfect box for my xb's or replace them with some pd's or something??

Help! lol

Hi

I'm putting fane 18xbn in them, there's a thread all about the different power handling of the fane 18xb

Both cabinets are suitable for the 18XB.

So what you recommend Chris? Stick with the xb's in one of these designs or is there a much better driver / box I should consider??

If you've got some XB's I would say stick with them for now.  Build a couple of Sub18's so you can either use them as a twin or two singles.  If you want to upgrade in the future, the Sub18 design is also likely to suit a wide range of other reflex drivers.  When you build the second pair you can chose to either buy two more XB's, or four of something more exotic.

If you can tie me down to being at home, you're welcome to pop up and see my twin 18's which are now living in the garage.

Fane 18 box gives better stacking height, turn them 90 degrees and you have perfect height for mids. These are Fane boxes with simpler shelf port (75mm high 235 deep) built to sit long side up.
