Hi everyone!
I would like to have your opinion on this driver,I read some other topics in the forum, but I didn't find something on what I would like to build. I need a slot to cover a range from 5 to 20000 hz and I'm looking for a comp + horn flare so I found the eminence apt 150. Being these drivers only 35/50 watt each, I though to build 2 slots for a tot of 8 apt 150 (4 x each Slot), so that the tops can have the right power compeared to the rest of the sound system. My mids reach quite flat 5 khz so I think this can be a good option and also these is a budget drivers. By reading in the forum I know that there are batter drivers in the market but I search a lot and I didn't find nothing for this quality / price. And these ones have the comp + horn instead to buy them separately ( quick question: are horns flare standard,I mean could I buy a b&c comp driver and put a horn of a different company? Do the horns have a standard mounting structure?). I would like to have your opinion or if you know if there is any dub sound system who has this style of cabinet or uses the apt 150 as a top speaker. Do you think the eminence can support high power of a classic sound system , or they will blow up easily? Do I need 8 apts or I can use only 4 of them without blow them? There are also two others drivers that I can buy: Fostex fh 02 (didn't find anyone who talks about this driver) And Monacor mhd 152 but it is more expencive I know that there are even the Fane but in Italy is hard to find it. Please help me!! Really thanks! Edited by dreadsoul - 12 October 2015 at 10:35pm |

Buy fewer more expensive drivers.
The APT series will handle 10W long term average power, and 100W on program material peaks.
For the cost of 8 APT I would much rather have only 2 good drivers.
If you're going for looks, throw up a bunch of cheap piezo horns (not hooked up), and just play the 2 good horns.

I've heard the eminence during a session in London and the sound was good to me. I can't remember the name of the sound system but the tsss tsss ssssh ssssh was very beautiful to my ears. The most important thing for me is the power that they can support, so I'm asking in the forum to someone who uses the APT 150: for a slot of 8 how much power do I need to run them? Is 350 Watt amplifier good or I'll blow them? This is a photo of how I would like my top cabinet (but not vertical) without the square tweeter.. p.s. do you know which horn are these? This is King Shilo old sound system: ![]() Edited by dreadsoul - 13 October 2015 at 10:12pm |

Get back with me after you run more than 10W average power for 8 hours or so.
