Which one are you comparing? I was under the impression that Ligwa pre was a kind of mini pre. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Mostec and jts have more control over mic input send, and return afaik. Ligwa pre more to be used with other outboard.

Clean afaik, but a decent pre, with enough control has the flexibility for an operator to make it sound good or absolutely terrible!

Lms,? mmmmm, more active xover. Lms will give control over phase inversion, very precise and adjustable xover cut off points, time alignment etc.
The Ligwa is the xover core of a conventional reggae pre, I think with basic para metric on bass and eq. Therefore to be used with a mixer.

imho i do own a ligwa and its super clean tbh, work well in 5way on my vintage stack or full range ect....tbh cant really compare it to Mostec/JTS/Sage/Links ect...as it limited for a full pre-amp as been mentioned, but sound wise i think its not lacking in any of the freq....as some favour sub on certain pre but lacking on a next preamp, mid/top better on this/that pre ect....i like the unit...tbh, also you must take into consideration what components yu using from top too bottom, tbh all my vintage high quailty very sensitive drivers ect
