ok, tried 4 of them (mono stack) out in a club/bar last night. thought i would give some quick feedback...

Turned them on running 40-180 with 5db notches at 100 and 155hz. At first i thought they were out of phase or something was wrong because they were very honky - like any other folded horn running up that high to be fair. Loud but honky

so i crossed them lower - 130hz and put -12db/dec high slope .

Now they sounded a lot better. They hit pretty hard - good punch. Transients are clear which is a little surprising for the design. They seem to still have a few bumps in the response - there are no sweeps for a stack of 4 HL-10A loaded and i guess its very different to the single HL-10C loaded one.

I was running them in stereo off a PLX3402 so thats about 500w a bin max but i never managed to turn it up enough to push the amp - the 10db power led was flickering, never approaching clip.

All in all they are great. Pretty loud, go fairly low, firm clean bass. They filled the room nicely. They will be useful bins for a second small rig. They look cool, and only weigh 28kg each (easily managable on your own) I need to get them painted and then take em to some different venues...

So there you go - Overall verdict

i think they are great for the mobile DJ/small band but i don't think they have any future in large stacks at raves/festivals where weight is less of an issue than size.

Use a minimum of 2 a side, stack of 4 if you can manage it.

Hi davey. Its no suprise that the response is abit wobbley,it has a lower cutoff(slightly)than a punisher, but equal to,or less mouth area so it has to happen.

It certainly is a good unit for some instances!

ok, round two

Used them last night in a club - just over 200 people. It was dnb with mcs (nasty) so lots of overdriving the mixer.

Tubas sounded amazing. I gave them a little 2db boost at 64hz like bill said, and they sound amazingly flat now. Bass is so clean - almost too clean and very fast. They sound different to all the other horns i've heard. As fast as a HD15 but much lower response. I really like them, very musical sounding with no muddyness. I was running them pretty hard and they filled the room nicely.

so there you go. they are going to be usefull bins

will take some pics today and post them.

Hello,

Did you already had a chance to use them outside? How much air do they move?

Best regards,

Walt

no, living the centre of bristol doesn't allow for much outdoor testing

They definately move air, you can feel every bass note in the middle of the room, and standing in front they hit fairly hard
