So, was just reading an interview with Metro on Red Bull.
where he claims (written in 2008, but STILL...) that Kieth (JTS) "Nah, Tubby’s don’t know how to make amplifiers" and that Barracuda built em (or does still) Anyone shed any light on this? Seems odd, i know Kieth is VERY well versed in electronic design... https://daily.redbullmusicacademy.com/2018/08/mysteries-of-soundman-metro |

Geezer is obviously jealous, and has axe to grind. The End..
Anyone who knows Keith, knows he is a supreme engineer. I once heard him at Scala, play 6x Turbomax Scoops off 1x amp, he modified/re-engineered. Can safely say, I knew of no other amp in the World, at that time, that could dish out that much power, and not lose it's lunch, keeping those unruly, hard to drive drivers, in check. ![]() |

I did think it was an odd thing. I own one of his UltraAmp (three strips of 1200w at 4R). Beautiful amps

All I know is Tubby is a Don of amplifier design and development, and Mr Eddie built fine amplifiers that were not designed to fry their output valves.

Exactly, it sounded odd as Kieth has plenty knowledge, backed with tonnes of product and a high level of customer base

In a very old thread, it looked as if the UA6 was something Chinese called an MT1500. Almost identical pictures by service dept Steve and another forum guy. However, looks can be deceiving and the JTS amp may well have had components spec'd by Keith. A few years back I discussed the ua with Keith and was told the output transistors were no longer available.

"Think" I posted pcs of the MT1500. And IIRC, Keith said the Hitachi Output Devices he upgraded to, where no longer available, so that was the end of the UA6. A mate also had lightweight version of the UA6, and when it worked it was great, but when it blew, components not around to fix them. I'm sure Keith has now moved on to Powersoft X series, so that tells you a lot...

Was guy called Xmax extreme put up MT1500 pics. But now in hindsight, no transformer amp ever surpassed Inf8MK2 at 4 ohms, so that is that.

I've heard a lot of people say, Inf8Mk2 did not sound nice on 1850s. When I played my 8x Oberton 1300xb loaded Scoops on Quadros 2x Voids, was different story, people amazed how smooth and round, the sound was. I would argue, Void was just too much for 1850s..

I don't think I have ever heard 1850's sing. Not a musical driver imo. 1851, absolutely, good ol' 186, for sure.
