As been mentioned a few times in various amplifier repair posts, beware the fake transistors on Ebay. 

Just a quick 2 minute look on ebay found at least half are not quite what they claim to be....now if these are genuine On-Semi, then i'm a chinaman.

Look at the printing on the first one, with a John Bull 'My first printing kit' stamp!

I'm just fixing an amp for a dealer whose in-house tech had repaired it and it had gone bang. With the amp came the bag of transistors he'd bought from ebay (minus the ones in the amp).

They're these. Comments please.

I do wonder why anyone would bother faking something like those. Expensive lateral Mosfets or some rare TO3's, yes. And never seen those in TO-218.   Ermm

More fakes on the way?

I threw away three dodgy looking Sanken A1186's today.  hfe was all over the place and the markings were too 'clean'  One transistor markings was printed over a slightly lighter shade of the case. Like a small stripe.

Talking of high-value TO3's Earplug, i did a quick search for the old Hitachi Mosfets...not sure about these, they had dull finish, don't ever recall the genuine Hitachi being this shiny?

Check their feedback and you'll see that all of the listings are private, so 
you have no way of knowing what they have previously sold and what
the feedback is for.
