Hey speakerplaners.. do i did some work on this soundsystem and it is almost finished (some details like exchange from xover to DSP etc.)

4x 186horn (RCF l18p300)
unknown tops (18sound 10mb600)
powered by
gisen fp10000q (subs)
tamp e1200 (tops)

thinking about kick section and adding some more 186 in the future.

upgraded tops from turbosound copies to mt102, louder and better in my opinion Wink
also added the metal corners to bass section to prevent wood damage and in happy with the visual result too

the system is missing some of the upper bass, so next step is adding some kickbins

Very weird of you to say that 186s are lacking in upper bass. They should go up all the way to 200 Hz, and dish it out properly!

Are you sure that your processing is spot on? If the mids and kick are not properly aligned, it will suck the punch out of it and sound lifeless.

186 and 1850 are THE recommended one-box bass solution for kick-heavy genres.

I'd consider building more of the same instead of trying to shoehorn another unneccesary loudspeaker inbetween, potentionally conolicating and worsening the result.

You could start by adding a pair of 12" mt112 mids. Here is rog's oeiginal measurement of a mt122 mid section (two 12" mids), and they do go down to 130 Hz. Recommended crossover for high power use is 180-200 Hz.
If you scroll down a bit, there is also the picture of a rig comprising of 4 X1 subs, 4 186or 1850 horns, mt122 and hf horns.

In conclusion, your system should be fine as is, 186 straight  to mt121/mt122 should work well.
Make sure your alignment and processing are proper. There should be advice somewhere in this forum, I'm sure this combo has been built and used many times over.......

i hear you, i cut the 186s at 135hz and mt102 starts at 180 (not sure if thats not too low for them) so there is gap between 135-180, the gig i did before that i cuted the 186s at 180hz to meet the mt102 but this wasnt great bcs of "honking" personaly preffer incomplete sound with the 135-180hz gap than the version where you let 186s play too high

Cross from your bass to mid at 150hz and time align the mids to the bass and you'll probably find that you have absolutely no need for extra kick bins whatsoever. Wink

*Also check everything is in phase!

okey you convinced me to play with the settings once more, i will LPF 186s at 150hz check and recalculate the delay for the tops and check the phase too, im suspisious about the phase difference between subs and tops as it may be wrong, did not think this would create an issue? Why would it create an issue with crossing frequencies? can you explain ?

Don't forget to run your mt102's down to 150hz too, I know it says 180hz on the plan but I personally have run them to 150 with no issues.
If your bass and mids aren't in phase at the crossover frequency, the point at which each cab meets the other, you'll have cancellations and a lack of energy around that frequency.
Simple adjustments to eq settings and crossover points can introduce phase shift hence they need to be done first.
