Hi folks, so I’ve searched this ‘ere forum and the google version of ‘tinterweb, but in the immortal words of the song “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” (the Chimes version is the best; prove I’m wrong!!!). Plenty of discussion regarding suitable replacement drivers, but not the actual info I need. As alluded to in the title of this post, I’m after suitable settings on an ultradrive, for the HZ SB600. On one of the threads that I’ve read, someone who said he knew the designer of these cabinets, said that between them they had worked out suitable settings, to make the most of these cabinets. I’ve just acquired a pair of these subs, so would like to see what they can do with a properly set high pass filter, crossover point and suitable EQ.

Much you very thank, wise collective!

Is that a plastic box thing for Disco Dave's to have some sort of fun with back in the day? Kind off looked like it was made out of a wheelie bin?

If it's any help, here's the info I got from Dave (Hz bloke)... you should be able to work out the settings from that, it's what I did and they sounded fine.
Chas n Dave : it's like Drum and Bass but with beards.             E=mc² ±3dB

Ta ever so, folks! If I'm reading djeddie's graph right, the EQ curve shows roughly the following; +3dB @ 20Hz, +7dB @ 30Hz, +8dB @ 40Hz, +7dB @ 50Hz, +6dB @ 60Hz, +5dB from 70Hz to just below 150Hz, then a -6dB scoop-out centred around 500Hz with a Q of about 0.4 (looks like it's around a 3 octave bandwidth, to me at least!).

This being a BP6 enclosure, which are of course notorious for munching drivers, I think I'll start off my experiments at low volume with a 48BW HPF around 30-35Hz, then add in some 40Hz, Q3 and see what it does.

Wish me luck; I don't want to have to go back to the other threads I mentioned, looking for suitable replacement drivers!!
