Taking a chance on one of these. Was 199 on amazon, so I can send it back if it sounds terrible, or only makes half of rated power or something. Anyone have any experience? The absolute cheapest GaN amp Ive found. Was saving for an admark 406 but I can't even handle it on my circuit. This was 1/4 the price. I'll check back in with some subjective impressions, as I don't have a dummy load or dyno setup, a/b'ing to other amps. Any tips? I'll leave it plugged in and on or used very low for first couple days to let the caps settle, but at least they have an official amazon store that bears the risk of importing. Have you seen this have you heard about this *jay leno voice*

That just sounds too good to be true. And an extreme lack of capacitance there. Don't expect to get anywhere near that 800W for more than a mS.   Dead

Less caps than my class D crown amps and those sound great and put out rated power. And you don't need as many transistors for GaN... I don't think you can tell digital topology just from looking but I could be wrong and you are some sort of wizard

For instance, this is a great amp.

'Burst' ratings are pretty standard for most, if not all switch mode amplifiers these days aren't they?

it specifies these are RMS ratings, not peak. But looking at how much more populated the ad406 is again, I'm getting cold feet on this. Another class d crown (cdi1000)  (not that great of a sub amp, but using it bridged to one bin) again, less capacitance

plus this (fulode) is considerably more modern... I bet even cheap caps are considerably better 12 years later?

Unfortunately you can't really compare a 1u amp with a 2u like that. The caps in the 2u will be taller, i.e. larger and with capacitance the size does matter!    LOL

And yes - look at some of the more reliable Class D and you will see large banks of the smaller caps. They are there for a reason. It's physics, not Magyk!!   Smile

Yup. And usually measured at 1kHz, not the full spectrum, or down at 30-80Hz which would be more relevant for most people that want to use them to drive those 24" subs!!  LOL LOL LOL

Yea I accidently posted the wrong amp first picture was supposed to be second generation drivecore, which is kinda like magic.  Not a lot of caps.  (First gen was absolutely terrible though) I did miscalculate about the depth, you are probably right, I'm walking back the order. don't want to be the Guinea pig I'm not a well off man

Yeah. Cliche is that when something seems far too good to be true, it generally isn't! And I'm pretty sure that Amazon don't actually guarantee anything! It'll be you v. the supplier/shop. Guinea pig, indeed...    Cry
