hello
ive just picked up a pair of pd2150's at a good price and was wondering what to build. Im wanting a sub that is good for 30 - 70Hz. Has anyone out there built the 21" super scooper, and if you have, what are they like?

What kind of music you playing mate? scoops are good for reggae, dub, DnB, dubstep, anything with deep rolling basslines. Not so good for techno, live work, house etc.
If that's more your bag you'd be better building some 21" front loaded horns or reflex bins. The latter could be designed with WinISD, just feed in the T/S parameters which can be found on the PD website (www.precisiondevices.co.uk). The former you would have to find plans for. I don't think adapting the 1850 horn would work as the two drivers behave slightly differently. Someone else would probably be better positioned to comment. Hope this helps. Jho. |

Hello , cheers for that.
Im aware of the limitations of scoops. My rig gets allsorts played thru it, but i was thinking of using 2 or 4 a side of these to add some depth to my current rig.
I have currently got 8 stacks of nexo si2000 which i have just finished putting together from a huge pile of parts. What a rig!!! the bass section of this is a twin 15 horn with reflexed rear chamber. the bins are amazing bass bins with loads of speed and punch, but in groups of 4 they are giving up at 50Hz. thats plenty low enough for house etc, but i would like some more rumble for d&b etc.
so if anyone out there has tried the 21" super scoop, let me know what you think!
Chris

I'd think about doing a 21" version of the X1 to stick under the 15" horns.....

by bandpass horn do you mean something like the old turbo flashlight subs - they were 21" i think - ill see what they run to. The big x1 idea also appeals - much smaller than scoops, but bandpass boxes never seem to throw, particularly outdoors unless you have a huge pile.
Has anybody scaled up the x1 for the pd2150?

Read this:
Thats where it all started, read "JSG mashed"s posts
Then read the thread he started:
To be honest it would be great if someone would build them, but he possibly came on too strong!!
