Im thinking of building some 8" scoops for my bedroom, does anyone have any plans, so i dont have to design it myself? Also does anyone have a suggestion for a suitable 8" driver for either folded horn or scoop use?

Absolutely no point in my opinion. I would say X1 in your bedroom is as good as it gets. |

If it's bass you're after, a standard hi fi bass cab will be the best way. miniture cabs are only for fun. I would say to maximize bass from a small speaker, you would need a larger horn than normal. Don't forget, 40hz from a small speaker is no different than 40hz from a large one except you hear more of it from the large one.

http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/T18.html Uses an 8 inch and goes low and is fairly small sized. Starts to roll off at 50hz, which is amazing for an 8 inch loaded horn.Seems to have a response to around 30hz. http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/autotuba.html That also looks interesting for an 8 inch. And seems to go to 25hz. ![]() |
