I am toying with the idea of making 8 HD 15's but was wondering if it would make any major difference to the sound if I made them with angled backs. I plan to make 4 per side and have them facing slightly outwards, with the bottom two laid left to right and the next two upright (as the design intends) I have calculated the volumes of the cabs so they are technicaly the same but allowing for a 10 degree slant on the sides (Or top and bottom for the lower cabs) Would this make any difference to the sound in any way ? I plan to use these for live band work so dont realy need the trancy, deep, sub bass that most seem to require, I am looking for a punchy, tight bass that is easy to stack and transport. Many thanks for any input on this. Lastly, I plan to use Peavey black widow drivers in these (Because I have 8 of them laying around and no money for new cones) any ideas on what they will sound like or even a straight "NO it wont work" or "Are you mad" will do fine. It would work if you got all the horns crosssections right in your 'conversion'. They need to have the same area! Especially the punch/kick is the part that gets lost if the horn is done wrong. The deeper bass is something you can squeeze out anyways (if your stack is big enough, otherwise there will be no deep bass from the HD15...). |
