Somehow, the subject from the original thread has "gorn orf", so I have done the decent thing and linked to it here.

So what was the general verdict? Which is the best driver? Is it any good? Is the modified version better? I'm confused by all the threads, not been on here for a while!

There wasnt really a verdict! one opinion was that the v18-1000 was the best, but what ever people say theres an argument so its a touchy subject!

anything the mate
v1000/pd1850 to rip it up... it has it all - depth and power
pd186 for a more mellow slow sounding sub
the hog handles almost any driver
think you will need kick bins but i will let you know when i have more then one running in a stack

Cheers, I was thinking of either V1000's or V1200's. Is the modified cab design the one to build though or what?

just build the standard one, im sure it would be just as good plus i cant be bothered to tidying up my drawing as its had so many little tweaks now.
make sure the cross brace is beefy though, or the sides will flop abit when a b line hits.
try a v1200 out for yourself, ours was f**ked straight out of the box so things could improve. it sound abit wank though, more industrial then musical... each to their own
jungle/dubstep/hiphop/garage is where the hog excells.
the tracks are normally well recorded, the bass lines are musical/fast and the bass lines drop to 30hz. all the things the hog can do well basically Edited by Heathrow_B_line - 31 January 2008 at 1:09pm |

Cheers for the info, I've tried reading through the threads but it all seems to end up with people sl*gging each other off!
I reckon I'll go for the standard design with V1000's in if I build hogs then.

yea thats a good combo... means you can handle all types of music well.
i hear you on the sl*gging off tip... some people threw a hissy fit cos no one invited them. looking back on all there comments you can kinda see why no one wanted them there... we were just interested in sound, not big egos and ppl thinking they knew it all.
the funniest thing was it wasnt a closed session, there were other ppl there, ppl even popped by to have a listen during the session. some people cry cos they think they are more important then they really are. what is it about ego and sound men?
you gotta laugh though
build more hogs!

The hog sounded great when I played some jungle on it ! the sound was fat, powerful and precise, try to listen to other subs to see what sound YOU prefer, but the hog handled jungle quite well (IMHO) with a V18-1000.
