  I need some help finding a Modular amp for some active cabenits. I'm trying to find one that is capable of supplieing 800-1,200watts at 8ohm operation mono and it needs to be 120V because of American plugins . Anyone know where I could get some here in the US? Or at least some Modular amplifiers around 400-600watt 8ohm? The higher the power, the better for subwoofer use .

With all due respect, probably not worth the bother.  It'll be cheaper to use passive cabs and external amps.

I'm still not sure why active cabs are getting so popular.  They involve running so many extra power cables and offer no redundancy in event of failure.  You'll still have to run an active processor as you'll struggle to find/afford a passive filter capable of dealing with that power.

Of course thats how i feel about them, maybe better someone who likes them should advise you

Well I do understand why some don't like active cabs. I like the idea because the amplifier is with the cab instead of in a seperate case. Cables don't cause much trouble for me, it's a compact highpower system. I can deal with big cabs and active cabs, but I really don't care for carrieing a 110 pound case full of amps   . Caster cabs are more suitable for me .

A high powered subwoofer plate amp is what you need. Just not many are fan cooled, but do have massive heatsink fins on them though.

Neverwinter,id ask wayne parham nicely he might still know the link to that prosound sub amp site.

Toxic : I just would never trust it fullly,I mean I dont trust my own 350w plate amp for home use! Gota remove the EQ on it too argh

I like that amp Toxic, only problem I see with it is that the heatsink fins on the inside, not the back. Causes a problem with heat in horn or sealed cab would'nt it?

@td_mike, where would i find this "Wayne Parham" ?

renkus heinz gets me all worked up

 

KV AUDIO! a local band 'shapeshifter' use their gear on tour everytime,and a club now bought some. Interesting since NZ is quite limited range,most just go for martin audio or overpriced JBL.

Quite high quality gear from what ive heard down here.

if you ever go to Bali ( on your door step) visit the famous 66 club they have kv2, sounds nice, great bass but not enough of it for my taste

Heres one with heatsink fins on outside, but it's rated 500w rms into 4 ohm though[less than other one].
