As the forum usually concentrates on the larger boxes thought you might like to see a box ideal for the weekend warrior doing Weddings, Karaoke etc.

Just a simple twin 8" + 1" comp jobby . Usable 120-20000hz  400 watts  99db/watt
Although this uses BMS drivers it could easily take similar from any of the quality manufacturers.

I use these with a single 15" reflex a side and they cope with up to 150 pepes doing all sorts of duties easily.

I should also have mentioned that the grills were supplied by Markie (always a pleasure to do business with) and the cabs were fabricated by Dom  (also a really nice guy to do business with) so really an SP Forum project.

Look good, nice and neat.  How do the rear ports perform?  Do you have to have them a certain distance from a wall? Just curiousEmbarrassed

Yes, its usually stated that it should be the distance of the dia. of the port so in this case 50mm.
I cross these at 180 hz when used with the 15" ers so the output from the ports is very little anyway. Only when used at the lowest recommended X-Over of 120hz do the ports really do any work.

When used on their own in a smallish room and close to a wall they sound pretty good with a bit of boost from 50-90 hz
No real bass but plenty of illusion.

Ryan, Just PM your proper Email address and I will send you a PDF.

Tony

p.s. A pair of these on stands either side of the DJ would be bloody loud.

Hi Tony,
did you have a certain reason to make them bassreflex cabs?
got some simillar ones but closed, still go deep enough (120) and have some kind of integrated subsonic as the cones were kept from moving too much on bass.
just curious why you put ports at the back as it wont be recognizable as tops or monitors in bit bigger locations (at home i could understand but not PA)

would like to hear your opinion about that
cheers

maybe,
but in my opinion theres no need for a port if the speakers go down to the required crossover-point in a sealed enclosure, makes operation much safer and reproduktion much more natural as you dont have tendencies for boomy bass or overexcursion because of equing etc.
hope u get what i mean and i am still inerested in your opinions...
cheers
