    Posted: 29 November 2009 at 3:35am

I need some urgent advice, borrowed an EV P3000 from a friend of mine for a gig yesterday and used it to drive a single 4ohm rated sub on each side. Went to return the amp this morning and when switched on it powers ok with the fans running but the protection lights does not go off, opened the lid and cannot see anything obvious. Is there anything i could check? I need to get this fixed soon as he's got gigs coming next week-end. Any advice is greatly appreciated

The issue is not completely resolved, i'm planning to go to the shop tomorrow weather permitting. Does protection light is ON on both chanels?
Does it come ON and stays ON during power up?

Hi thanks for a quick response.
Protect light is on on both channels.when the amp is switched on the protect lights go out for a few seconds and then switches back on.the amp was working fine when last used and then just did this when i tried to use it for new years.

Right.I have spoken to an engineer at shuttlesound and he advised me to check all the ceramic resistors and the 4 black output transistors on the main output boards. After doing this and everything appearing fine i switched it back on and it came straight on.I have just played a few tunes and all seems well.
I have since had another chat with the engineer and he is almost certain it was due to the amplifier being cold/damp.
On his advive iam now going to read the manual and have a go at setting the bias.
Thanks for your help and i hope you get yours sorted with out to much cost.
