Hi everyone , i have just about finished making a pair of super scoopers, a bit of a challenge to make but well worth it, i used a pair of P.Audio E18-400S 18" drivers and some panasonic horns i'm impressed with the spl produced by this design

Good to hear a few more scoops have entered the world! However, the P.Audio E18-400S 18 is only rated at 350wrms.The scoops can handle much more power than that.If u can upgrade ur drivers,u think ur impressed now, wait till u hear them with 1000+rms being pumped into em' . anyway, well done on the building of em'! |

Thanks for letting me know, i would love to upgrade at some stage to bigger drivers, but at this stage i'm a bit limited by funds, i bought the drivers on sale for $200 each, and bought an amp for around $350 but still if you can make these boxes yourself you can save a bit of cash hey do you have horns in yours as well ?? |

Using a tweeter in the scoop bin is a bad idea.Because the thumping bass will totally cover up the high frequencies. I'd say use scoops for bass, 12 inch front loaded horns for mids, and a few 8 inch mids for upper mids , and dynamic bullet tweeters for highs. All in seperate boxes making it 4 way. If you decide to get better drivers for the scoops go for FANE colossus 18XB[ the classic driver used in scoops].

Thanks for the advice, i'm fairly new at the speaker building , so any advice is good advice, i have the tweeters seperated from the bass, and it does sound very good compared to my old home hifi a couple of my close freinds have aslo built simmilar designs with 15" drivers and i had to that one step further and build the 18"s i have a hard time not turning them on every chance i get

If you decide to get better drivers for the scoops go for FANE colossus 18XB[ the classic driver used in scoops]. I would second this-i had 4 scoops with fane colosus 18xb- and they were monsters!! easily take 1000rms in each side and definetly produce the goods!! If your on a tite bidget try ther celestion frontline 18's 600rms-these can also take good power, work well in scoops and are relatively cheap compared to pd's etc |

I am very much excited by the posted results of scoop. Has anyone build 12" versions, if so please mention how does it sound, and which drivers been used. I wanna build it for small indoor parties. |
