If I'm building a G Sub with Fane Crescendo 18Bs do I want a input for each speaker or one input for the pair? Ie do I run each sub off each channel of the amp or do i bridge the amp into one input that would then go to both subs?

I've used Pd 186's now & use a Kam KXR 1500 Bridged & wired the box in parallel. Toxic on another thread said I should use a lot bigger amp but this seems to work just fine for me!! I'm thinking of a G sub each side with a couple of 8" mids on that & 2 1" horns on the top!! I'm only using it for birhtdays etc so there will be no more than 300 ish people there!! What else do you use in your rig???

Thats even worse then, unless those PD186 drivers are 16 ohm versions? That Kam KXR1500 amp ain't designed to do 4 ohm bridge, it will break or go into protect soon.

I'll post a note when it does mate!! I'm sure Kam & a few of its users would beg to differ! But in the mean time does anyone else out there using this equipment have an opinion???

So they are not 16 ohm drivers then? I'm surpised you haven't broken the Kam KXR1500 yet, as it can't do 4 ohm bridge,I bet it will break very soon when you start to push it in 4 ohm bridge. The C-mark right at the bottom of this page: http://www.djkit.co.uk/acatalog/Buy_C_Mark_Amplifiers.html It's £395 new and gives 2x 1600w rms into 4 ohms, so you can power both G-subs with that, instead of straining two crappy kam amps in a lower impedance than they can handle which is bound to cause problems in the future. Theres also the Audiohead AH4000 amp that gives 2x 2000w rms into 4 ohms that you can get on ebay or from Squire. Last but not least, the T.amp Proline 3000 would power them two G-subs also. It gives 2x 1500w rms into 4 ohms. It gives the least wattage out of the 3 amps I listed, but it can do 2 ohm loads per channel though. http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_tamp_proline_3000_prodinfo.html

After reading your post in newbie discussion/amps & sound management advice I can see what your trying to say. The amp runs those speakers fine until I give it loads of eq which is when it starts clipping! And only with mad b lines! Would the audiohead 2400 be a better choice? I'm well happy with what I've got but If I can get even more out of them then why not?? Have you or do you know of anyone thats brought anything from whybuynew.co.uk they've got it on there quite cheap or can the 186s take even more than that?? |
