 Hello,

Looking forward to building a pair of XTRO's but my question is, beside Punishers, what other sub enclosures may be suitable to play along the XTRO's. Thank you in advance.

Catalin.

X-tro matches very well to most bins, but because the X-tro itself can reach down to 80Hz it has not so much use for example to combine with HD-15 subs which by nature extend far beyond 100Hz.

I would say for example Punisher, LAB-horn, X1, 186/1850 horn, CV Earthquake, reflex and bandpass and tapped horn stuff and so on.

Best regards,

Walt

Build labs if you've got good woodwork skills, it'll take a while but you won't regret the time spent doing it. Also look at the two startec bins, particularly the super bass horn.
Don't test the champignon sound

And what would be a decent ratio between let's say 1 XTRo per side and planar wave guide horns, 1850s or BRs?

I want to build a system consisting of 2 XTROs, 1 per side, and 4 subs-2 per side. The system is intended to be used at big indoor parties with electronic, rock, jazz, funk music. I think I'll go with 4 way amping. In a few words, I want a high SPL, I know the XTROs can deliver me that, but I also want to blend the XTROs with a good cab in order to sound good, not start building with no guidelines and "we'll see when it's done how it sounds".

1 Xtro per pair of 1850 horns would be alright.

recommendation is one xtro for 3 punishers, but they are less efficient than the 1850 horn.

but 1850 horns would be 186 horns in my opinion, because they sound nicer.

What drivers, beside the original 18-Sound 15"driver, may work in this cab?

As the Xtro is actively and presumably digitally crossed over, nearly every 15" capable of clean lowmids would work. I don't like the 18Sound 15ND930, so I would go for RCF MB15N351, or the B&C 15NDL76 if need a cheaper solution.

I'll go with the mb15n401 rather than the mb15n351 on the low mid part. Check out the specs. Leco in our country has 2 of them. Ask him about them.
