charles ( carlos ) helped sort me out with some cnced punisher flat packs. and i can truely say they are awesome!!! here are some pics of the 4 i have almost finished.

Hello,
That looks like a very well build. I agree Carlos does an amazing job on those flatpacks!
I see you are building 8 Punishers. Which amps are you going to use? Did you choose 4 or 8 ohm drivers?

Looking good, I'm happy with just my two! Can't imagine what 8 properly powered would be like.
If I made any more I would probably go the CNC route, it makes an awful lot of sense. I did make mine for £300 (pair) all in though so there are savings to be had if you have the time. Any chance you'll be bringing them anywhere near the south coast, Southampton, Bournemouth etc. Owain. |

8 ohm drivers
amp will be a void inf 8 for a while untill i get another 4 (6 per side) and then i will have 2 void inf 8's which will give more of the power requirements that the punisher should have.
i am very pleased with the quality. there was only the odd piece that needed shaving before slotting in for a nice tight fit.
currently waiting on ciare who havent started making the next batch of the 12.00sw yet.
in terms of where you may get a chance to hear them. i am located just north of london in a boring place called hatfield. (near st albans) but i will have my system out to places as far as redhill (south london/ surrey) and as far up as luton)
this project has cost me the earth... i am a student and only have an underpaid job a sound engineer in a night club / venue. i should have the whole thing done in about 2 or 3 weeks.

step 1.
because i started out as a batch of 8 with me and a friend working, cutting every thing out of the flat pack sprews and trimming off the little joins took me the most part of a day.
step 1.5
as charles recomends. dry fit every thing on one cab!!!
step 2.
the next tricky bit was the 1st section of the horn (where the driver is attached to) charles being the legend he is lent me a 12.00 sw which i used to put the T nuts in the right place. doing 8 of these took about half a day. (checking the driver fitted perfectly and didnt cross thread) then have some fun with some PU expanding foam (it takes a whole day / over night to cure! remember that!
step3.
next bit doing the rear chambers. YOU REALLY NEED 2 PEOPLE FOR THIS!!!
put pilot holes and counter sinks every 4 inchs (starting 1 inch from the end of a panel)
starting from the back of the cab to the front (screwing the piece made in step 2 to a side panel 1st!!) . you need to get each panel bunted up to the cnc groove as much as possible other wise you will end up with the front panel (the flare piece) apearing to be at an angle and protruding! if you have made this mistake. you can sand it back down before attaching the front piece.(rember to place the oposite side on top of your work from time to time to check every thing is looking good.) this took again most of a day. then have some more fun with some PU expanding foam!
also! slot the side panel on now. it will make the next set of steps much easier. and also at this point drill a hole in the back so that you can put the cable through.
(so about 2 days ish so far)
step 4.
attatch the spine brace to the top pannel. then attach top. and put in the baffle. (making sure it will be flush to the back panel(mine needed a little trim))
step 5.
work out where to put the T nuts so that they rest either side of the baffle (other wise you may end up with a bolt putting a hole in the baffle)
recess the T nuts.
(btw if any one has never put a T nut in heres how you do it, draw on the points where you want the t nuts to be (on the side the thing you are planning to attach). make a pilot hole right the way through the board. flip the board. use a 19mm spade bit and recess drill down about 3mm then drill a 8mm hole. t nut will fit perfecly + ad some PU glue this will insure it will never move)
attach the back panel
(we are at about 3 days now)
step 6.
attach the next horn baffle to the back panel and side panel. and also attach the cross brace. (which you have rounded over and glued already) finally attach the bottom panel..
step 7.
using 1.5 inch timbers and some left over 15mm ply make the acces panel baffle. remember to use gasket tape!
using 1.75 inch screw attach the access pannels.
enjoy.
estimated time for 8 punishers. at least 5days with 2 people working.
4 i estimate about 3days. we worked from 10 am till 8pm.
painting another full day with 2 people working.
and finally cone loading and speakon wiring, handles ect. half a day.
the amount of fun you are going to have with your punishers... priceless

Nice one, I would say thats also a sizeable enough rig to proudly
display at the Nottingham Hill carnival if you could be arsed to lug it
there. I hate to think of the look on my rents face if I announced I
was going to store 8 punishers in their garage - my dad was not
thrilled about 2.
Im in Southampton at the moment Ceharden, currently doing a PHD after an electronics masters. My sound stuff all lives at home about 60 miles away in Wiltshire, but soon I will be looking for a flat with my friend who I do gigs with. He's more the serious DJ and I'm more the sound monkey who creates the basslines. (Although I am partial to a dabble on the decks.) When we do get a place here and I get enough cash together to get a van we will bring my ickle rig down to Soton to try and break in the party scene. Should be good fun! |

aye. my system is just about powerfull enough for 500 - 800 people at a stretch!
the venue is a really weird shape tho.
the venue uses it once a every fortnight and i charge them 120 quid.... peanuts but i get my hours on top of that. and i get to keep it all there..... which is nice!!!
