I like the design and sound of the mt121 and i am planning on building two myself, i have already made up one prototype flare unit out of some 12mm ply i had lying around, it was not as bad to build as i first thought. It was assembled in about 2 hours (cut and built), now all i need is to get some quality ply and build two of them. I aim to start my build next week as i am off work for a week, just hope the weather is good. One question for you ? if any one can answer it. If i was to change/alter the design of the mt121 the original baffle cut out is 220x164, if iwas to keep the volume the same but change the cut out to an octagon style cut out how would this change the sound produced!?. I would keep the rest of the dimentions the same but i am looking at the middle part of the flar being octagon shaped as well. Then the mouth of the flar square whats your thoughts!.

Horn response is pretty useless at mid or hi frequency to be honest.
mt12" section with a 6.5" +1" upper mid top section would be utterly killer! would be a bit complex though lol.! |

Reading other post's i got the impression the mt was very hard to build and the plans where slightly out, so i marked out all the flare sections on some stiff card cut them out and taped them all together. After a few minor angle changes used the card as a template and cut out the ply, it all went together perfect first time. The ply i used for my dummy run is real bad quality so im going to pick up some quality ply tomorow from my local wood yard, and get building this week. My original question is just me being curious about how it would sound.

Ok got some new ply this weekend, 12mm birch with 12 layers. To day was day one of build, I marked out all the pieces and got cutting. I was slowed down a little by the good weather, the odd can of fosters and a lunch time bbq. Followed by a few more beers. I will post some pics tomorrow, of all the cut out sections, and hopefully some actual build pics. The weather is gonna be good all week! So i should have some new cabs by the weekend sprayed and ready to go.

So the build pics so far Both the flare sections completed to day, they just need sanding down and a box to put them in. The main box should be build tomorrow and hopefully sprayed by friday!.

Im going to load them with the drivers rog recomends on his original plans p audio sn 12b neo and the p audio sd 750n with the p audio ph 2723 horn. I may change the p audio sd 750n neo driver!. As i am only using 1 flare section im not sure i will need the power of this driver. Whats your thoughts on this!.

what sort of stuff do you play through these? I would serously recomend trying a 6.5" and 1" as this may sound stupidly clear and defined.
if not, yeah you would just have a little bit more head room in the his, alot of people have similar setups some even with bullets too, which is nice! |
