Topic: JBL top ID anyone?Posted: 19 January 2012 at 8:16pm |
I already posted this in the scoop porn thread, but I wanted to see if anyone knows something about the top in the picture. The HF horn is a JBL 2382 driven by a 2445 compression driver. 12" lowmids + passive xover + connector terminal are definitely not original ![]() It has been modified & retrofitted, that's for sure. To be honest, I don't know if it's an original JBL or homebrew. The grey paint looks about right, and there is a JBL badge on the right side of the upper 12" speaker, and of course the JBL HF section. Heavy build of quality ply. Box is trapezoidal. Does anyone recognise this box? I'd appreciate any info! cheers, Bob |

Looks like a copy of a SR4731....although the original had two ports in between/beside the 12" drivers.

thx jbl_man!
missing BR ports have puzzled me too, as most jbl designs seem to be ported somehow. Is there a difference between 2382 and 2381 ? The datasheet of the SR4731 says the horn is a 2381, and the driver a 2447J . The horns in mine are 2382. I guess the 2447J is a less old model than the 2445? Maybe mines are a older design? (or the copy of an older design....

JBL 2447 is a 1.5 inch exit as opposed to 2 inch exit of 2445.
