im quite new to any kind of speaker building and was wanting to start a small but decent bass heavy sound system for small parties. i've been doing quite a bit of research on what plans to go with and have read quite a bit on the 1850 & 186 speaker plans.

i was wondering because i wouldn't be able to build the cabs myself how much it would cost to get them built for me and also if there's anything missing from this current lists for both sets of scoops that i would need to buy to put these plans together and just in general check if this is all a good choice due to funds being quite limited (about £1000 for the full setup of 2 scoops)

sorry if this is a bit vague, tips and help- is greatly appreciated

EDIT: im also undecided on which setup to go with, can you guys give your opinions on which would be best?

1850

2 x VOID V18-1000 (18” 1000w AES 8ohms)

2 x 1850 Horn Cabs

1 x KAM KXR 2000 2x1000w stereo amp

186

2 x PD 186 18 inch 700w 8 Ohm Speaker Driver

186 Horn Cab

1 x KAM KXR 2000 2x1000w stereo amp

what amp would you recomend for either of these setups? i assume it's best to run on the full ohm capacity of the driver but which amps would suit these drivers but give me best value for money?

thanks for your feedback too

if you on a budget look at the proline 3000 highly recommended by everyone on here and will happily power 2/3 x 1850 a side

this is where i go derp and question my knowledge on amps, wattage and ohms. LOL

http://www.thomann.de/gb/tamp_proline_3000.htm

so i could run 4 1850 drivers (1000w @ 8ohm) from this amp

proline 3000 = 2x 1100W @ 8 Ohms - how does that manage 2/3 1850 drivers per side?

just put one 1850 a side and you`ll have some headroom, if needs to be plug 2 a side but be careful with the volume, dont clip the amp!

2-3 a side happily is a bit exagerated...

providing you wire them in series 2x8r drivers will be 4r and 3 would be 2.66r so yes you can run 4 but im not sure its recommended so id stick with 3. with 3 ude be getting about 1650w so plenty of head room

you call 1650W for 3x 1KW speakers plenty of headroom?
3KW would be about fine but still not alot of headroom...

yes the Proline3000s are 2ohm stable, but i personally would not recommend or use it with 3 cabs a side on bass duty. For kicks, maybe, surely for tops but for bass you should have some headroom!
Otherwise you sooner or later will clip the amp to death if limiters arent set up properly and your speakers will die a slow and painful death :)

if possible amp should be able to deliver 1.5 times the rated RMS power of the speakers.
At least a bit more..

1.1kW for a 1Kw speaker is fine
1.5Kw for 2 1KW speakers is tolerable if! limiters are set correctly
1.6KW for 3 1KW speakers screams for problems, except you power plenty kicks and never need the power due to efficiency of the stacks.

is there any alternative/cheaper amps for powering just the 2 drivers off?
