Has anyone built or Designed a Trapiziodal shaped X-Tro?? As i would like to build 4. They need to be trapiziodal!!! So i can array them on top of 8punishers.

Very tricky to do. If you taper towards the back, will there still be enough width for the 15" driver at the back?
Would almost be quicker to start from scratch with a cab design. |

you would have to make the cab wider to start with
if you started with the original size i dont think you would get the 15 loaded in the back its tight already

Oh well.... Was just gunna try and avoid having a big ugly gap between the front of the cabs... what about using 12s in an X-Tro instead of 15s??? Would they work?

You could with some tweaking of the horn, but you'd certainly raise the
lower cut-off due to a smaller driver in the same length of horn.
End result would be a massive box that might still only play down to
120Hz.
Edit: Hornresp says about 120Hz if you're lucky. Unless you can think of a nice smooth folding to gain another 20cm or so but then the mouth is a bit small..... It's a PITA finding a low-mid section that not only works but fits in a nice shaped box.  Edited by ceharden - 25 September 2006 at 10:00am |

Don't forget the killer kick bin to go inbetween.
 Gonna get a prototype of that done before I move onto the mids. If PD ever biuild my drivers! In the absence of a good 12" flare I might be sticking with the 2x12" quasi direct-radiating box.Really look forward to hearing the Punishers tho. Just need somewhere to play with it all. Might end up hiring a venue for a few hours during the day for some playtime. |

Sounds good to me, have to get the kit down here first and into some sort of lock up. Looking for a new place atm so hopefully it will have a decent garage - and one day I will procure a van. I was thinking of some hd15 style cabs that might use the Ciare 12SW, but I havent done anyhting about this yet.
Still also havent given the punishers anywhere near the power they would like, but theyve still been impressive. Haven't had the right gigs so far. Sorry for the thread hijack btw. |
