how easy would it be to install a soft start relay to an amp [bk MX300?]. I don't intend on having any level control, just full gain, controlled from the processing.
Had a google about, seems there are boards, but from china with dodgy/non existent instructions! |

an mx300 won't need one, the inrush isn't that much. But if you're concerned about it, the best bet on a small amp like this would be an NTC Surgeguard or Ametherm in series with the mains, around a quid or less and very reliable.

do you mean a remotely controlled mute relay, rather than a soft-start?

just something to stop it going boom on powerup, unless it isn't much of an issue with it?

I've used several of these and never experienced any boom. I assumed they were already fitted with them. I have one for sale if anyone's interested.

Soft start and delay/anti-thump are different things.
![]() I´ve actually fitted a couple of those "dodgy Chinese" soft start boards to some old amps and they´ve been fine. I´ve also tried a couple of anti-thump boards from same and found them hopeless. Ended up designing my own board for that. |

ok, so you dont want a soft start, you think you want an anti-thump speaker relay.
The BK module won't need one of those either, they power ok as they are. |
