Anyone got any idea's for an 18" tapped horn to replace 2 x 18" reflex's?(behringer budget rubbish). It will be used singularly in a mobile disco setting playing various chart naffness. It has to meet 12"+1" reflex tops (120hz), run off approx 1800 watts 8r.
Budget for driver is around £150-£200. Reasons for this are: current bass cabs are poo, there's 2 to lug about and I figure 1 cab, single bass source would suit me better. Thanks guys Gareth

Cubo 18s? I have 1550 loaded Cubo 15s and I think they're sweet, its a very efficient design. They're simple builds too. Bee on here had 4 1850 loaded 18s and said they did damage!
To be fair, for a mobile disco playing chart music though, 18" Cubos might be a bit overkill. If you went down the cubo 15 route I think you'd be more than surprised! Where in Lincolnshire are you? Im in Stamford if your nearby and fancied a listen to them. |

Thanks jwdrain, cubo 18's were my first thought but I wondered how powerful just 1 on its own would be compared to 2 x 18" reflex's like I have at the moment? Not worried about overkill as I'm not one for running everything at it's very limits, the extra headroom is the way to go as far as I'm concerned.
I'm located between Lincoln and Grantham, do your cubo's get out and about much? I appreciate the offer for a listen, possibly take you up on that offer if your still running them summer time.

Yeah I will be running them summer time, have no plans on selling em anytime soon!
I really think 1 Cubo 18 would actually do well in comparison. It'll have better throw outside, and just for having the horn it gives it that really deep rumble. They work fine as stand alone bins as well, you dont have to stack them in multiples. |

It's certainly one candidate. Is there a design for a tham18 or anything bigger than the cubo about? Thinking along the lines of an Ohm CS-18H size. Just want all possible options before I make my mind up about this.

CBE-18 cyclops. Really thought hard and almost build these, but went FLH instead. No regrets, but I still get a bit envious when I look at other people's.

See if you can get Matt (Sinfinity) to give you a demo of the FTH18 box that he has, it is fitted with the 18N860 but works perfectly well with the much cheaper 18S430v2. This was designed for punch over pure extension. ![]() |

There is! although unfortunatley not yet proven or verified in any way to my knowledge. ...way to sell it right, but at least the designer believs in it, if that's any comfort :) http://www.martinsson.cc/blog/index.php?entry=THAM18-details Edited by martinsson - 01 April 2013 at 8:12pm |

Cheers Martinsson, I did google and see that after I 'd posted. Looks interesting. My budget is only £150-£200 for the driver though. Would it work with a cheaper driver?

you could be the first to try the new 18" version, if the tham15 is anything to go by then it will be a winner.
